Surfachem is looking for a proactive Internal Account Manager with a commercial mindset. Core responsibilities will be to develop and maintain exceptional long-term relationships with existing/new customers.

Surfachem is a leading global distributor of speciality chemicals. Focusing on the personal care, household and industrial care and pharmaceutical industries, we work in partnership with a range of consumer goods manufacturers. From start-ups, to supermarkets and multinational brands, our ingredients are a fundamental part of your everyday routine.

This exciting new vacancy is home based, and the role will be very flexible in line with your requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance

  • Achieve / exceed agreed financial targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Promote Surfachem (and the 2M Group) product range and services to all existing and new customers within the designated geographic/account responsibility
  • Lead all price negotiations in line with Surfachem’s ongoing strategy whilst maximising added value
  • Generate leads at new and existing customers
  • Report customer visits, market intelligence and competition activity through the use of the businesses CRM system including maintenance of price lists and opportunities pipeline
  • Respond to all customer enquiries including quotation and sample requests in a timely manner
  • Identify and target inactive and new customers.
  • Action commercial projects in line with marketing and purchasing initiatives as outlined by the Sales Management to agreed timescales.

Relationship Management

  • Build and develop long term relationships with key decision makers, influencers and initiators to maximise potential
  • Ensure full understanding of customers’ business including product and route to end market
  • Facilitate supplier, technical and all relevant stakeholder’s joint visits to strengthen customer loyalty and maximise mutually beneficial opportunities

Planning & Analysis

  • Budget development and long-term strategy creation
  • Account analysis with a focus on sales performance, gap analysis, margin management and up selling opportunities
  • Produce a monthly sales report for geographic areas including financial data with particular focus on sales performance, CRM opportunities pipeline, sales recovery activity and competitor information
  • Awareness of areas current performance and communication of this to Internal Colleagues
  • Effective use and development of area pipeline outlining short, medium and long-term targets

Customer Service & Insight

  • Action all incoming customer enquiries promptly and efficiently including all administration task associated with the enquiry
  • Awareness of any stock related issues that will jeopardise the ongoing relationship with the customer ensuring any issues are actively communicated within the business and resolution sought
  • Provide support to Area coordinators.
  • Maintaining high levels of customer service
