As part of our ongoing partnership with Sensient® Beauty, Surfachem is excited to spotlight their range of cutting-edge, mineral-based suncare solutions. As consumers become increasingly aware of the importance of sun protection, the need for innovative and effective suncare ingredients has never been greater.
Sensient Beauty's suncare portfolio includes a range of sophisticated technologies designed to enhance sun protection and product performance, read more about some product highlights below.
Sensient offers a selection of mineral filters that have been treated with Triethoxycaprylsilane to improve stability and dispersibility. These surface-treated minerals are essential for developing high-SPF formulations that offer reliable UV protection. These treatments not only provide effective sun protection but also enhance the texture and application of suncare products, ensuring a smoother and enhanced sensory experience on the skin along with improved water resistance. They also help to reduce whitening on the skin.
UVR TiO2 AS: Titanium Dioxide treated with Triethoxycaprylylsilane.
Oxyde de Zinc Micropur AS: Zinc Oxide treated with Triethoxycaprylylsilane. Ideal for SPF makeup and coloured sunscreens.
UV ZNO PS45 AS: Zinc Oxide treated with Triethoxycaprylylsilane. Globally compliant grade with a particle size of 45 nm to provide an optimised balance between UVA & UVB protection and superior transparency. Provides very low viscosity allowing for very liquid formulations with excellent spreadability. Ideal for daily SPF skin care.
Sensient's mineral filter dispersions are designed to simplify the formulation process, providing time and cost savings. These pre-dispersed systems ensure consistent SPF performance and ease of use, making them ideal for formulators looking to create high-quality sun protection products with minimal complexity.
Natpure® Screen TWG: A water dispersible blend with a high concentration of nano Titanium Dioxide to give higher UV absorption vs competitor dispersions. Free of solvents and preservatives it also provides a cooling and moisturising effect in formulations.
Covascreen® ZN: An oil soluble advanced dispersion of nanofine Zinc Oxide.
To help formulators achieve higher SPF ratings without increasing the concentration of UV filters, Sensient offers a range of SPF boosters. These ingredients work by enhancing the efficacy of sun care products, allowing for broad-spectrum protection with reduced active ingredient levels, which is crucial in meeting consumer preferences for lighter, non-greasy formulations.
Sensisorb Biomim: Inspired by nature, this ingredient is based on the structure of MAA’s produced by marine organisms as natural sunscreens. UVA & UVB absorber and free of OMC & BHT.
COVABEAD® Crystal: Microspheres of Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, it works synergistically with mineral sun filters to help boost SPF while also providing blue light protection.
