2020 reshaped our skin care routines. Instead of booking appointments for facials, we turned our living spaces into the spa. Self-care became more important than ever, and treating ourselves to new beauty products to be used within the became the norm (Independent, 2021) Google Trends also highlighted that consumers were asking questions ranging from “how to cut hair” to “what are the best skincare products?", demonstrating consumer desire to take control and enhance their own beauty regimes.
The skin care market is constantly seeing new active ingredient launches. For example, the latest innovations in personalised skin care enable users to mix their own active ingredients in their home, which previously, has only taken place in laboratories (Cosmetics Business, 2020).
