Do you want to introduce a new biocidal product to the market, or perhaps you already have a product that’s been on the market for years, and you’ve never had to prepare a dossier for it? Not sure about its compliance status?
Listen up—the next four steps could save you a major headache:
1️⃣ Active Substance Under Review:
If your product contains an active substance currently under review, you must notify it in the countries where you sell your biocidal product.
2️⃣ Keep Your Product on the Market:
Once notified, you can continue to market your product while the active substance undergoes review.
3️⃣ Post-Approval Steps:
After the active substance is approved, you’ll need to apply for authorisation to ensure your product remains compliant.
4️⃣ Missed the Notification Deadline?
If you fail to notify your product before the deadline, you can still apply for authorisation. However, your product cannot remain on the market while waiting for authorisation to be completed—this process can take years.

Products placed on the market before the notification deadline and successfully notified can remain on the market while their dossier is assessed by the competent authority. However, products not notified before the deadline cannot be placed on the market without prior approval of their dossier.
Taking these steps now could save you from future regulatory headaches. Need help? Reach out early!
